INFOSEC #6

We talked about cryptography and physical security. It was rather fun learning about those two topics but out of the two, I really liked physical security more because unlike cryptography, it didn't have math in it. I like math and all but I gotta admit, that topic was challenging because you really had to analyze it. The physical security topics was fun because we got to hear stories about a fireman from sir. Plus, the exercise in that topic can really make you think about the security measures the school has and if they're effective or ineffective or if they use the right tools for certain situations.
Our prof. said that if we finish early with the lesson, he will add a new topic for us to learn and for him to teach. I got excited about it until he said that the bonus topics will also be included in the exam and I wished that we wouldn't finish early (I think that wish actually came true)

INFOSEC #5

We have presented our machine project (SpamAssassin) and our debate on the Patriot Act. Our professor in ADVWEB, sir. Boogie, let us use his cPanel account to help us with our machine problem, we are truly grateful to him because he let us it.
The debate went well, we were able to present our arguments and support them. I gotta admit, I was nervous about it because debates are unpredictable but I was excited at the same time because I knew that I can support my case well, although I feel like I was not able to present it very well because I was excited and nervous that I think my voice faltered while I was talking. I feel like I could've done better but at the same time, I'm satisfied with what I've said.

INFOSEC #4

The topics for the final machine projects have been distributed to the groups. I am actually quite excited to learn about SpamAssassin since this will be the first time I'll be able to use a software such as that. Learning about softwares can be quite tough and frustrating (specially when you encounter a problem),but I think that we will be able to do just fine since we will be working as a group or team and not just individuals. We can hopefully present early so that we can get a 20% bonus. Debate topics have also been distributed, we're the ones against trap and trace. Debates always make me feel nervous because they can be so unpredictable, like you don't know what would be asked or said (but I guess that's also one of the charms of debates, you don't know what will happen).

INFOSEC #3

This week, we learned how to apply access control in our exercise. It was fun to learn something new. I loved how our professor answered all of our questions, even though they might be only a small section or part of the exercise, I liked how he helped us out. Also, we talked about legal issues and privacy. We discussed cyber crime and laws concerning privacy. It was interesting to learn about these new information because they gave light to a topic I have not encountered before. What stuck with me in our lesson was the Apple v. FBI case. My respect for Apple was renewed and I was touched by their decision (even though I am not an Apple user) to not help the FBI. Apple showed that they value their customer's privacy atop of everything else and I applaud them for that. Having said that, I will change my phone to an iPhone--not(it's too expensive), but seriously I'm glad I understood this week's lesson and I look forward to next week's.

INFOSEC #2

We have started using Cisco Packet Tracer again and I have to admit that I am excited to have encountered it again  (because I really enjoyed the first time we used it in class) yet a little bit uneasy because I have forgotten some commands and a bit of how things work but I think I will be able to do just fine since I still remember most of it and I can always ask help from other people. Also I really like the stories of our professor, they are so entertaining to listen to and it helps us understand the topic better.

INFOSEC #1

I'm glad that we have sir. Justin as our Information Security professor. We've learned about different basic security terminologies and we've been assigned research paper topics too. I am quite excited for the what may come in sir's class yet worried about it too, worried that I'll have a hard time understanding it but I know that I'll be alright.

DNETCOM #6

I was glad that I was able to understand the lesson properly, that Routing Information Protocol or RIP is much easier than static routing because it is easier to control and handle, and that I got to configure routers successfully. I truly appreciate it when our professor helps us with our exercises and when he answers our questions. I feel like when he helps us, we get to receive extra information about the lesson or we get to fully understand it. I really like how approachable he is and that you can ask him questions about the topic or trouble that you've encountered with the lesson because (for me) not all professors are as approachable as he is, I got to learn a lot from him since he can answer our questions and even provide solutions to problems. Our lessons made me more intrigued and curious about networking, I kind of wish that it could've been longer because I was having so much fun with the lessons. It was fun configuring terminals, learning about different protocols, the research papers and being challenged by exercises. (I hope that we could all take a picture so that I could post it here)
